Joe Burrow reveals his opinion about Patrick Mahomes before the rivals' duel

Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow will renew their young rivalry on Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs face the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium.

They are two of the league's young stars. Mahomes is higher up the NFL's quarterback hierarchy because of his three Super Bowls, but Burrow has had his moments.

Burrow, one of the best college football stars of all time to enter the NFL, had his biggest moment as a professional a few years ago in Kansas City when he led the Bengals to the Super Bowl in the 2021 season after beating Mahomes and the Chiefs in the AFC Championship with a surprising 27-24 overtime victory.

Burrow also won the regular season rematch the following season in Cincinnati with the same result.

But Burrow knows it can be difficult to win against Mahomes.

The Chiefs avenged the 2021 loss with a last-second 23-20 victory in the 2022 AFC Championship Game. The last time the two teams met in December 2023, when the Chiefs won 25-17, Burrow was sidelined with a wrist injury.

Now Mahomes is standing in Burrow's way as he tries to improve his team to 1-1.

He knows what's coming.

“Pat is one of a kind,” Burrow said. “He's really exceptional at extending the game, getting moving, trying to get that little extra for the guys who are running free, and he really understands the game. So it's always a big challenge to go against him,” Burrow said.

Mahomes has led the Chiefs to three Super Bowl victories and has already shown he can beat a team looking to make a statement. As they hoisted their latest championship banner in Week 1, the Chiefs took care of the Baltimore Ravens, who were looking to avenge their own loss to Kansas City in the AFC Championship Game in January.

Mahomes also has the advantage of having more rest before the game, but there is a catch.

After their victory in the first Thursday game of the season, Mahomes and his wife Brittany had a long weekend and a rare Sunday off during the season. They drove to the US Open in New York with their Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift to watch Italy's Jannik Sinner defeat American Taylor Fritz in a luxury section of Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Mahomes also faced questions this week about former President Trump's comments about his wife during an interview on “Fox & Friends” after Swift publicly supported Vice President Harris. The Mahomes family's political leanings have intensified in recent weeks after Brittany has expressed her support for Trump in the past. Brittany also revealed that the family is dealing with an invasion of black vultures that have raided their Missouri backyard this week.

Meanwhile, Burrow will play his first game against the Chiefs since bleaching his hair.
