DJ Moore could have a great fantasy performance with Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze – Week 2 injury updates

Week 1 did not go according to plan for the Chicago Bears offensively. Caleb Williams managed only 93 passing yards and highly valued WR DJ Moore could only score 10 fantasy points in PPR leagues.

However, Moore's fantasy value is increasing following recent injury reports regarding fellow receivers Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze. According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, head coach Matt Nagy told reporters that both Allen and Odunze will not be used on Sunday Night Football until shortly before the game against the Texans begins.

Even if both play, Moore is likely to be the top wide receiver in Week 2. If Allen and Odunze, or both, miss the contest, the 27-year-old rising star will be a top-10 prospect.

During Moore's first season in Chicago, he caught 96 passes for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns, all career highs. Even the most ardent Justin Fields supporters know Williams is the better quarterback, so expect similar (or better) performance from Moore. The Tennessee Titans smothered the Bears' offense in Week 1, but there are still reasons to be optimistic.

The offseason concerns that Allen and Odunze would take targets away from Moore were valid. They combined for 15 targets against Tennessee, with Moore tied for second on the team with eight. However, this injury report suggests that Allen and Odunze would be limited if they played, which alleviates some of those concerns.

The Texans allowed 26.9 PPR points per game to receivers in 2023, the sixth-worst mark in the NFL. We saw their porous defense last week against the Colts, when Alec Pierce and Ashton Dulin both caught long touchdown passes from Anthony Richardson.

Moore made his living off of long passes last season. He averaged 14.2 yards per catch in his seven-year career, and in 2023 he had five different games where he averaged over 16 yards per catch. Assuming the offensive line holds up, expect Williams to make multiple bomb attempts on Moore in hopes of catching Houston's defense off guard.

After a disappointing first week last year in which Moore caught just two passes for 25 yards, he rebounded with six catches for 104 yards in Week 2. Especially with Allen and Odunze unable to play or limited, Moore should be a target for an offense looking to shake off the Week 1 stink as quickly as possible.

Fantasy football players can safely sign Moore as a WR1. The monster games are coming – maybe even this Sunday.

If you have questions about other players, don't set your lineup without first looking at Michael Fabiano's Week 2 PPR rankings for each position.
