The Jacksonville Jaguars will play their first home game at EverBank Stadium without one of their best weapons in the passing game. Veteran tight end Evan Engram suffered a hamstring injury during pregame warmups and has since been ruled out for the club's Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns, the team announced.

The team has not released any further details on the severity of this hamstring injury, only that he will be benched for Week 2. With Engram out, the Jaguars have Brenton Strange and Luke Farrell as the only two tight ends on the lineup. While they will provide depth at the position, they likely won't have a major impact on Engram's target share. Instead, they could look more toward wideouts like Christian Kirk, rookie Brian Thomas Jr. and Trevor Lawerence's Gabe Davis.

Engram completed just one of his four targeted passes for five yards in the opening loss to Miami, but has proven to be a key receiver for Lawrence throughout his tenure. 2023 was Engram's career year, setting new highs in passes caught (114) and receiving yards (963). He also had four touchdown receptions, the second-most of his career.

The 30-year-old is entering his third season with the organization after signing with Jacksonville as a free agent in 2022. He originally came into the league from Ole Miss in 2017 as a first-round draft pick of the New York Giants.
