Pedro Pascal's HBO adaptation has a good chance of not repeating The Last of Us 2. Biggest criticism (and it's not the shocking death scene)

The Last of Us is one of the most iconic stories ever told in a video game, and HBO was up to the task of adapting it into a live-action television series. Naughty Dog hit the jackpot with the simple plot, which sees Joel accompany Ellie through what's left of America to find a cure that will save humanity and restore order to the world. The first season covered the first game with a few creative twists and changes; however, adapting the controversial sequel is much more complicated.

Director Neil Druckmann got ambitious and created a much more complex story in Part 2, focusing on the consequences of anger and violence. Ellie is at the center, and the gaming community has mixed feelings when they learn that Joel has been swept under the rug. Perhaps the HBO adaptation can succeed where Naughty Dog failed.
