“Doctor Who” gives first glimpse of the Christmas special

The San Diego Comic-Con is currently experiencing scorching summer heat, but Doctor Who does not care about at the moment. It's already Christmas for our favorite Time Lord, and that means it's time for us to get a little taste of the 15th Doctor's next adventure.

The track “Joy to the World” was written by the returning former showrunner (no, not The 1) Steven Moffat, the stars of the Christmas special BridgertonNicola Coughlan. In it, the 15th Doctor is on his own for the first time since last year's Christmas special “The Church on Ruby Road”. However, apparently not for long, because according to the time jump clip, which Coughlan himself Doctor Who's panel in Hall H at Comic-Con, introducing us to Joy, the Doctor's never-ending mission to deliver a ham and cheese toastie with a pumpkin spice latte, and the surprise return of a familiar Doctor Who species. Check it out below:

This is an interesting turn of events considering we just received the news Doctor Who spin off The war between land and seawith a focus on the anglerfish. The Silurians and anglerfish, as separate evolutionary branches of the species that populated the Earth before mankind, have always had a relationship in Doctor Who history, although they appear separately in more stories than not – they have only teamed up on screen once, in the 1984 series Warriors of the Deep. Between Christmas and a spinoff, things are looking good for our reptile and amphibian Doctor Who villains.

Doctor Who returns this Christmas to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and Disney+ internationally.
