The time has come! Mariah Carey celebrates the beginning of the Christmas season

Mariah Carey continued her tradition of celebrating the end of Halloween and the beginning of the Christmas season with a funny video.

The singer, whose hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is considered a Christmas classic, shared a short clip on Twitter showing her smashing a carved pumpkin.

The 52-year-old R&B star wore a glittery red evening dress and matching high heels and swung a colorful striped baseball bat.

The video was posted in the US just before Halloween and contained the message “It’s time!!!”

And continued: “To smash the pumpkin and treat it like a pie… because we still have Thanksgiving to get through.”

The video also briefly showed a gift with the date 5/11, suggesting that Carey has a release or announcement planned for that date.

At Christmas 2020, All I Want For Christmas Is You finally reached number one in the UK – 26 years after its release.

The song initially peaked at number two in 1994, losing out to East 17's “Stay Another Day”, but regained the top spot after a tough battle with the equally festive anthem “Last Christmas” by Wham!.

In 2019, Carey also released a lighthearted video celebrating the end of Halloween and the upcoming start of festival season.

The clip shows the star waking up in bed in red Christmas pajamas and receiving a call from Santa Claus.
