Kate Middleton's favorite Christmas song is an absolute classic

By Cosmopolitan

With lockdown lifted, Prince William and Kate Middleton have embarked on a short tour of the UK ahead of the festive season (which, like many families, will be very different for the royals this year). Yesterday, the couple arrived at London Euston station to board the Queen's rather fancy royal train, as they will spend three days travelling around England, Scotland and Wales.

Kensington Palace said the tour would be spent making “working visits” “to recognise the inspirational work of individuals and organisations who have done everything humanly possible to support the community during what has been an incredibly difficult year for the nation.”

Of course, in true royal style, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a slightly more exciting station experience as they were greeted by a live band led by Welsh singer Shakin' Stevens, who played his Christmas hit 'Merry Christmas Everyone' – which, he told the Evening Standard, had been specifically requested by the couple. What an honour!

“I love it, it was nice to be invited,” said the singer, whose real name is Michael Barratt. “And they were the ones who chose the song. I'm over the moon… They chose it!” He added that the tour was a nice morale booster for the country: “It [the UK] needs something to cheer us up, don't you think? Because what we've got, we don't know how long it's going to last, so you gotta keep your tail up.”

The song is obviously a favorite of the royal couple as well, as a video clip of the performance was also published on Kensington Palace's official Instagram account, in which you can even see Kate doing a little boogie dancing while the band plays.

The caption said the Duke and Duchess met inspirational transport workers: “As the #RoyalTrainTour was about to get underway, Shakin' Stevens' 'Merry Christmas Everyone' echoed through London's Euston station. Before departing last night, The Duke and Duchess met with inspirational transport workers who have gone above and beyond to keep people feeling safe and secure during this difficult year.”

The future king and queen were also seen chatting to Network Rail staff and enjoying the music before boarding the train and speeding off to their first destination.

We can't wait to see what else the tour has to offer!
