The sweet moment when Kate Middleton spots her parents and siblings in the audience at the Christmas concert

Kate Middleton's biggest supporters were on hand on Thursday to celebrate the Queen's first Christmas carol concert.

As the Duchess of Cambridge arrived at Westminster Abbey alongside her husband Prince William, the Middleton family were at the front to support Kate, having spearheaded the event which recognised the incredible work of individuals and organisations across the UK who have supported their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Michael and Carole Middleton, Pippa Middleton, James Middleton and his new wife Alizee Thevenet attended the celebratory event on Thursday, which was also attended by Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Zara and Mike Tindall.

And one special moment between the group was caught on camera. As the Queen walked past her family's line, she looked over and caught sight of her younger siblings Pippa and James, who were smiling encouragingly at their sister.

This is not the first royal event the Middleton family has attended recently. Last month, Carole and Michael Middleton, along with their brother and new sister-in-law, James Middleton and Alizee Thevenet, attended the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Middleton family is close – with each other and with the royal family. They have even been invited to Balmoral, Queen Elizabeth's Scottish estate, where she spends the summer months.

Kate and William were guests at James and Alizee's wedding in France in September, where they ensured that all the attention remained on the couple.

“Prince William and Kate were there, but they did not want to steal the show from the newlyweds Alizée Thevenet and James Middleton, a very nice boy,” François Arizzi, mayor of the idyllic mountain village of Bormes-les-Mimosas, who performed the civil ceremony in the local town hall, told the local newspaper. Var Matin.

“I was able to interact with [William and Kate] in very bad English,” joked the mayor. “We talked about the charm of Bormes-les-Mimosas and its climate, about banalities… It was a simple moment and I was not more impressed than that!”

In the program for the Royal Carols: Christmas Together Kate wrote at her church service: “We have lost loved ones, seen our frontline workers face immense pressures, and experienced heartbreaking isolation from those we hold dearest.

“Moreover, we have seen communities come together to help those who need it most. And through our separation from others, we have been reminded of how powerful human connection is for all of us. How much we need each other. And how love and a sense of belonging can provide comfort in difficult times. The importance of simply being together.

“In our roles, William and I are so fortunate to meet and spend time with phenomenal people across the country who support individuals and families every day. And over the last two years, we have been inspired by countless people who have brought their communities together through simple acts of kindness. This Christmas service is our small way of recognising the inspiring contribution that so many of you have made. Thank you.”
