Watch: John Lewis' 2022 Christmas advert puts children in care homes in the spotlight

John Lewis' Christmas adverts are known for their emotional impact and 2022's heartwarming offer was one of the strongest yet.

This year's ad campaign is a stark reminder that we should do our best to help others at this time of year. In 2022, it was all about highlighting how many children in the UK live in care homes (over 108,000, to be exact), and it's a stark reminder that not every child will have the magical, happy Christmas – or childhood – they deserve.

That's exactly why the retailer has launched a range of charitable Christmas gifts to go with the advert, all centred around the ever-so-cute Lewis Bear – who, if you look closely, made a cameo appearance in the advert.

The shop donates 25% of profits from the sale of these gifts to help give children in care a brighter future. The money goes to @actionforchildrenuk (which protects and supports children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support).

The other beneficiary is @whocaresscotland (also known as Scotland's only national independent membership organisation for people with care experiences – supporting their rights and the power their voice can have to bring about change).

As well as the eye-catching skateboard featured in the advert, the charity gift collection includes everything from a full-sized Lewis bear and mini Lewis Christmas decorations to milk chocolate, tote bags and children's pyjamas – and prices start from just £5.
