Marvel fans want to see Doctor Doom's biggest murder in the MCU

If you think Robert Downey Jr.'s reveal brought the internet to a standstill, there's a Doctor Doom murder mystery that could increase the online damage tenfold, according to Marvel fans.

It's been a few days since Downey's return as Doctor Doom was revealed in Avengers 5, now aptly titled Avengers: Doomsday, but the world is still stunned.

Given the impact of Iron Man's death in 2019's Avengers: Endgame (in short, there is a variant of Tony Stark who is actually the supervillain), fans are divided.

Now that Avengers 5 has officially shifted from Kang the Conqueror to Doctor Doom, attention is turning to what we might see in Doomsday and Secret Wars — and there's one particular death scene that's putting it into overdrive.

In the Marvel comic Secret Wars #8, Doom asks Thanos if he has the Infinity Gauntlet, to which Thanos replies no – but that doesn't matter because he's still Thanos the Great. Unfortunately, with a wave of his hand, Doom turns him into a skeleton.

“Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom against Thanos with this scene in the MCU would be a treat for families,” said one tweet.

A second agreed, “God Emperor Doom appearing in the MCU would be the HIGHLIGHT,” and a third said, “That would break the internet.”

“Come on bro, you know an RDJ Tony Stark version of Doom doing that to Thanos in the MCU would be full circle and a badass moment,” said another.

There are still a few details to be ironed out before the scene can air – including Thanos' possible return to the MCU after Endgame. But since Doomsday will pave the way for Secret Wars, nothing can be ruled out.

“Since it's a PG-13 movie, the skeleton part of the scene most likely wouldn't be shown,” argued one fan, while another wrote, “I pray it's not like that. I want the real Doctor Doom to do this. No variant,” added another.
