Ty Pennington enjoys a romantic getaway in Miami with his wife Kellee Merrell

Ty Pennington and his wife Kellee Merrell can't get enough of Miami – or each other!

In a series of short video clips shared on Instagram Reels, Pennington, 57, can be seen enjoying the sunrise with Merrell, 34, and their dog Dory.

The video montage begins with Merrell enjoying the stunning ocean view on her balcony while her HGTV star husband brings two cups of coffee. The couple then shares a heartwarming moment with a hug and a kiss, and Dory later joins them to feel the love.

Although Pennington begins the film on a romantic note, it quickly takes a playful turn by kneeling on the floor and tugging at his wife's bathrobe.

Pennington wrote in the caption, “Miami morning…” but quickly added, “You didn't think I could do a serious video did you?? 🤪#justcheckin.”

Merrell, originally from Vancouver, first met the famous carpenter in 2010 while filming a TV show in Toronto. The two have stayed in touch since then, and Pennington told PEOPLE exclusively that he has “admired Kellee from afar for years.”

Timing was everything for the Trading rooms alumnus and his wife, the social media manager, when the couple reunited after opting to quarantine together during the pandemic. They eventually married in November 2021 after Pennington proposed to her over a cup of coffee on the dock of his Florida home.

This is not the first time Pennington has expressed his admiration for his wife on Instagram. When Merrell turned 34 last June, Rock the block The presenter shared a collection of black and white photos of the two, honoring some of his fondest memories.

Pennington praised his wife in the caption, writing, “It's her birthday 🤍 My favorite human. Thank you for being such a wonderful human inside and out and for making me the happiest person, giving me a family (🐶) and a place to belong.” The collection included photos of the couple showing off their silly side, such as trying to squeeze into a pair of pants leg, and several other snaps.

To celebrate her birthday, Merrell also shared a nude photo from the beach that Pennington took herself. She captioned the photo, “34th ✌🏼” and received a sweet comment from her husband, who said it was his favorite photo.
