Danica McKellar and Oliver Rice headline “A Royal Christmas Ball” for the large American family; “DWTS” professional Gleb Savchenko takes over the choreography

EXCLUSIVE: Danica McKellar (A royal date for Christmas – pure romance) and Oliver Rice (Firefly Lane, Magic in the Mistletoe) have booked their next film for Great American Family. The duo will star in A royal Christmas ballwith waltzes choreographed by Dancing with the stars for Gleb Savchenko.

Production on the film begins this week and will be released in November as part of Great American Christmas 2024.

In A royal Christmas ballChelsea Jones (McKellar) is a dance teacher and studio owner in Chicago who inspires children to find themselves through dance. Just before Christmas, Chelsea discovers a photograph she has never seen before. Chelsea thinks the young woman is her biological mother, who died when she was only five years old. The woman is wearing a wedding dress and tugging on the hand of a man wearing a wedding ring, but that is all that is seen of the man Chelsea believes could be her father.

The handwritten caption on the photo reads: “Our place, Havenshire, December 23, 1984.” With only the internet, a plane ticket and a lifelong determination to keep going, Chelsea now has four days in Havenshire to solve the mystery of her birth family. Along the way, she must sneak into a castle, teach a stubborn prince to dance and be in the right place on Christmas Eve when the bells ring.

“Royal films are some of our audience's favorites,” said Bill Abbott, president and CEO of Great American Media. “Finding love when and where you least expect it is at the heart of royal fanfiction, and Danica and Oliver do an excellent job of making that heart's desire come true.”

“Oliver Rice has a dashing Cary Elwes vibe,” added McKellar. “Oliver grew up in London and graduated from the Oxford School of Drama. He brings a real nobility to the role of Prince Phillip. I can't wait for fans to see him in the film.”
