Journées du Patrimoine 2024: an artistic performance at Hangar Y in Meudon (92)

Hangar Y welcomes visitors aged 92 and over for the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) on September 21 and 22, 2024. A special program will run throughout the weekend.

Opened in 2023 after a long renovation, Hangar Y has quickly become a popular cultural and lifestyle meeting place for the People of Paris. Exhibitions, immersive experiences, film screenings, family workshops: Hangar Y offers a rich and varied program for all audiences.

This former Airship hangar attracts curious visitors only by its unusual architecture and history. Built from elements of the Machine Gallery of the 1878 Universal Exhibition, reused during the First World War, converted into the Air and Space Museum between the wars… This impressive building will surely fascinate many visitors!

The programme of the Heritage Days 2024 at Hangar Y in Meudon:

  • La traversée sonore – sensory audio guide
    21 and 22 September

    This audio guide is based on bone conduction technology, thanks to lightweight headphones worn in front of the ears. Equipped with your smartphone, the tour takes you on a guided tour through 6 sculptures and artistic installations, combining voiceover, sound design and music.

  • Guided tour “Jewel of Cultural Heritage”
    21 and 22 September

    Come and discover the history of the Hangar Y site, from the construction of the Bassin de Chalais, designed by Le Nôtre in the 17th century as part of the magnificent perspective of the Château de Meudon, to the first airship flight in 1884, to the rehabilitation project that made it possible to reopen in spring 2023.

  • Show: 100-word portrait of Hangar Y
    Saturday, 21 September, 3:00 p.m.

    Artist Zoé Vayssières has selected 100 words from thousands of words created by an AI fed with numerous resources on Hangar Y. 100 words symbolize the past, present and future of the place and will gradually take over the large nave.
    Following the performance there will be an exchange with the artist.
