Wordle is reborn on TikTok

TikTokers are reincarnating Wordle, the word-guessing game that dominated 2022.

In the official game, users have six attempts to guess the word of the day, with the only clues coming from their previous attempts.

The New York Times owns Wordle, but the version on TikTok has nothing to do with it. It's a filter by Kasai Green (@bykasai), who has previously created viral filters on TikTok.

The Wordle filter is essentially a word search puzzle. When you start the video, a scrambled word appears on the screen, but there is a green letter – this means that the letter is the right one in the right place.

Green's filter contains nearly 150,000 videos. Green designed the filter for 10-second videos, but users asked for a faster one.

“Please I need a faster timer,” said @_kendallkay.

“I updated it, I have a new video explaining how it works now,” Green replied.

Green has delivered.

He updated the filter, adding a normal version and a “speed mode” that reduces the time to five seconds. Green also added more words to the filter's word bank.

Even though it's only a five-letter word, some users had trouble figuring it out.

“Tell me why I thought it was a mistake,” @kaylapers0n said in the comments.

“Like I said rodeo,” replied @alpy_mf.

“I said apply like App-Lee,” said @savannahhazelton.

Thanks to Green, the TikTok community is jumping on the Wordle wave again. With so much success in just a few weeks, you can expect to see these little green and yellow tiles all over your feed.
