Arsenal and Liverpool share points after Christmas clash at the Emirates

Arsenal and Liverpool played their best game of the Premier League season so far, with the Gunners coming back from a 2-0 deficit to take the lead only for Roberto Firmino to score in a dramatic 3-3 draw.

Philippe Coutinho gave Liverpool a deserved half-time lead: the Brazilian international beat Petr Cech with a clever header after Mohamed Salah's cross had bounced into the middle by Laurent Koscielny.

But while Jürgen Klopp's team dominated the first half, they later had to regret the missed opportunities.

In an epic second half, Liverpool doubled their lead shortly after the restart when Salah's shot was deflected by Firmino following a superb counterattack.

However, their two-goal lead was short-lived as Arsenal were back in front within six remarkable minutes.

After a pinpoint cross from Hector Bellerin, Alexis Sanchez headed the ball between Simon Mignolet's legs, but the goalkeeper was then easily beaten by Granit Xhaka's vicious shot.

The comeback seemed to be perfect thanks to Mesut Özil's sensational finish: after a brilliant one-two with Alexandre Lacazette, the playmaker lobbed the ball over Mignolet, but 19 minutes before the end, Firmino beat Cech and equalized.

A draw would surely have been the fairest result in a thrilling game in which neither team was able to defend competently. Firmino's intervention ensured that Arsene Wenger had never beaten Klopp's Liverpool in five attempts.
