From Chitchor to Gol Maal: Six times the actor's films were given a contemporary touch in popular films by Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Ajay Devgn

Our birthday boy Amol Palekar's films have not been spared from remakes either. Most of his films have been given a contemporary makeover, which is current but exaggerates most of the time. Let's get the worst out of it first. MPKDH is perhaps the worst remake ever made in the history of Indian cinema. What is even funnier is that the film was made by the same producer who made the sweetest love story called Chichor, Rajshri Films. Palekar played what Hrithik Roshan seemed to do in the 2003 film, complete with Valentine's Day games.

Gol Maal – Bol Bachchan

Gol Maalby Hrishikesh Mukherjee, is untouchable because you are so easily drawn into the crazy world of Ram Prasad Sharma and Laxman Prasad Sharma and enjoy it to the fullest. Even though unemployment is an issue today, the focus of the film is cleverly hidden behind funny gags and the moustache. Bol Bachchan tried the same thing and luckily it was at least hilarious.

Shriman Shrimati – Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya

A couple is desperate seeing the condition of several families and hence decides to help them all. Palekar plays an alcoholic with a very attractive and talkative wife. Yes, Govinda and Juhi Chawla have tried to recreate the problem-solving couple played by Sanjeev Kumar and Rakhee in the original, which we think they have managed to do reasonably well.

Baaton Baaton My – Partner

Many who have seen both will find it a little difficult to spot the resemblance here, but don't worry, we've got you covered. BBM, The basic idea is to get a middle-aged man to marry as quickly as possible, and he tries to fit into the company of an outgoing young girl. partner Again, it's about making an aging man yearn for a relationship and someone helps him do it. Yes, partner is a copy and paste of Hitch, but there are many similarities between the two.

Do Ladke Dono Kadke-Hera Pheri

A call to a wrong number causes chaos in the already chaotic lives of Babu Bhaiyya, Shyam and Raju. A little girl is kidnapped and ends up with them, while the real kidnappers demand a ransom in return. Basically a comedy of errors, as in Palekar's Make Ladke, make Kadke where two petty criminals snatch the child who was allegedly kidnapped by others. We wonder if the makers are aware that the film has strong similarities with Palkar's film.

Meri Biwi Ki Shaadi – Shaadi Se Pehle

Happy Birthday is about a man who hears a doctor talking about a terminally ill patient who thinks it is him and decides to marry his wife. Something similar happens in the film by Akshaye Khanna, Ayesha Takia and Mallika Sherawat. Shaadi Se Pehle. All coincidence? I don't believe it!
