In an interview with Fresh air above NPRActor Ryan Gosling revealed what he and his co-actress Michelle Williams had to go through to prepare for their roles in Derek Cianfrance's Blue Valentine's Day.

Over the course of the month, we tried to dismantle what we had built. [Originally,] We all worked really hard to create that part of the love story where they fall in love. We wanted it to feel genuine, real, true. And we spent all this time building it up, and then we had to tear it down.

The effort the actors put into their roles is beyond insane. Gosling and Williams portrayed a married couple struggling to rekindle their relationship. To make it more convincing, they also had to take their characters' wedding photos and set them on fire.
