Fans of The Boyfriend are convinced that a separated couple is “still in love”

We finally know which couples are still together after The Boyfriend reunion, and one fan-favorite couple has split up, but some are convinced the two are “still in love.”

It's never easy to let go of a couple you've invested a lot in when they split up… just look at our favorite romantic comedies. It hurts even more on reality TV – especially when we find out they've split up on camera.

That's exactly what happened with Netflix's surprise hit dating show “The Boyfriend,” whose reunion will air worldwide on August 3. Only one couple – Dai and Shun – are still together, and the final episodes revealed a heartbreaking breakup between Kazuto and Alan.

The couple have revealed that they are “still good friends,” but that doesn't mean all fans share their opinion.

“Just watched the reunion. I love Daishun so much. Also, I feel like Alan agreed to be friends with him just for Kazuto's sake, but he's still very much in love with him,” one fan posted on X/Twitter.

“Alan is hands down the best guy on The Boyfriend. He lets a villain escape,” a second fan chimed in.

While nothing is going on between Kazuto and Alan, other fans are wondering if another cast member of the new TV show – Ryota – will try to get Alan’s attention.

“I'm sad about Kazuto and Alan,” wrote one fan on Reddit. “At least they're friends. But Ryota's face caught my eye. Maybe he'll try again.”

A fourth fan disagreed slightly, saying, “Alan is also so incredibly kind. That hug at the end shows so much empathy for Ryota's feelings, even though Ryota keeps actively trying to get past him to get to Kazuto. There's a reason Kazuto was more attracted to Alan's genuine consideration for others.”

Regardless of what actually happens behind closed doors, both Kazuto and Alan seem to be in good spirits. In fact, the two are so comfortable with each other that they don't mind poking fun at what happened.

Since The Boyfriend reunion aired, both halves of the former couple have been posting TikTok videos using a cast filter to find “the ideal boyfriend,” choosing themselves until the other appeared as an option.

“Alan chose self-love… and then Kazuto appeared! Lovely people who don't mind making fun of themselves,” mused one fan.

Another commented on Kazuto's response: “LMAO I ALMOST CHOKED ON MY COFFEE.”

All 10 episodes of The Boyfriend — and the reunion — are available to stream on Netflix now. See which Love is Blind couples are still married, the worst 90 Day Fiance breakups, and whether Too Hot To Handle is scripted.
