Groundbreaking Indian-Polish film ‘No Means No’ to hit cinemas worldwide this Christmas — Transcontinental Times

INDIA: The groundbreaking film No Means No has created a lot of excitement as the first Indian-Polish co-production. Industry heavyweights like Steven Seagal and Sanjay Dutt have praised the project, increasing the anticipation even further.

Set against the backdrop of a skiing championship, the plot revolves around the teenage love story between an Indian man and a Polish woman. Featuring an international cast including Dhruv Verma, Gulshan Grover, Sylwia Czech, Natalia Bak and Sharad Kapoor, the film highlights strong female characters and the theme of women empowerment. Verma sees No Means No as more than just entertainment; he sees cinema as a powerful medium to bridge cultural differences and promote mutual understanding. “Our film 'No Means No' was shot mostly in relatively undiscovered, picturesque locations in Poland. As the first Indian-Polish collaboration, it will showcase Poland to Indian audiences and strengthen tourism and cultural ties,” explains Verma.

The production faced major challenges, particularly the extreme winter conditions in Poland. “We shot in freezing temperatures, often below minus 30 degrees. A big challenge was keeping warm and improvising in areas without generators, for example when shooting a scene with car headlights,” says Verma. Despite these obstacles, the unwavering support and hospitality of the Polish people were crucial to completing the film.

With No Means No, Verma wants to revive the skiing culture in India. “Gulmarg has some of the best ski slopes in the world, but the sport has been overlooked due to the region's difficult history. With the improved conditions, it is time to establish Gulmarg as a major global ski destination,” explains Verma.

The film's cinematography beautifully captures Poland's snow-capped mountains and scenic vistas, offering a glimpse into this enchanting country. Shot in English, Hindi and Polish, 'No Means No' aims to deepen the cultural and bilateral ties between India and Poland. The music, composed by the legendary Hariharan, with contributions from Shreya Ghoshal, Javed Ali and others, adds a profound emotional layer to the film.

Due to the ongoing conflict in Europe, the film's release date has been delayed, but its grand premiere is now finally scheduled for Christmas. Dhruv Verma's action sequences have already been featured in leading European magazines and newspapers, which is increasing the anticipation for the film.

The film features a stellar international cast including Gulshan Grover, Sylwia Czech, Natalia Bak, Sharad Kapoor, Deep Raj Rana, Kat Kristian, Nazia Hassan, Anna Guzik, Pawel Czech, Anna Ador and Jersey Handzlik. “The performances of the cast are exceptional and their commitment is palpable in every scene,” enthuses Verma.

Vikash Verma's 'No Means No' aims to strengthen the friendship between India and Poland and serve as a cultural bridge between the two countries. The film, which is about to be released, is a testament to the power of cinema to unite cultures and forge lasting bonds.
