Call the Midwife confirms new cast member for Christmas special

Call the midwife has confirmed a new cast member for its upcoming Christmas special.

The BBC series has released a new behind-the-scenes still of some of the show's child stars, confirming that Myla Park has joined the cast.

Alongside April Rae Hoang (Mai), Alice Brown (Angela) and Edward Shaw (Ned) Call the midwife said the episode would feature a “beautiful performance” from the new star.

The series' caption added that the four children “became great playmates while filming – especially on the long days with a large cast, as seen here.”

“This new clique of little stars wanted to immortalise their day in typical film style with a clapperboard – and our camera crew was ready with a suitably small clapperboard!!

“Next time you [Myla]it will take place in a more dramatic context…but until then our lips are sealed xx.”

An Instagram post was shared on Park's own page in which the young star expressed her excitement about participating in the series.

“I'm so thrilled to finally be able to announce that I've been cast in BBC1. Call the midwife Season 14, Christmas special… filming this was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and I enjoyed every second of my debut as a television actress,” the caption reads.

Park previously toured the UK and Ireland with Annie, the Musical.

In addition to the Christmas special, Call the midwife Season 14, which was recently teased with a photo of the cast.

The show's official account shared a photo of the cast at a dinner table and teased it: “In an ensemble drama like ours, every character has something to say – even when they're not speaking.”

“In the episode shown in this photo, there is a LOT for our Nonnatuns to discuss… Call the midwife returns with a new Christmas special and season 14 in 2025.”

Call the midwife will be broadcast on BBC One and streamed on BBC iPlayer.
