Emily Dean

JJ Watt is becoming a father!

The 33-year-old NFL star and his wife, professional soccer player Kealia, 30, are expecting their first baby together, the couple announced on their respective Instagram pages on Thursday.

The Arizona Cardinals player and 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Champion shared a series of photos in which Kealia shows off her baby bump under a brown bodycon dress.

“I couldn't be more excited. ❤️💙,” Watt wrote, while Kealia noted in her post that she is due in October.

The couple married on Valentine's Day weekend 2020 in the Bahamas.

In February, Watt celebrated the couple's second wedding anniversary with a sweet tribute on Instagram.

“I don't know where or how this tradition started, but every time we get dressed up for an event or go somewhere together, we take a photo in the elevator. It's a 10-second thing that captures a moment that we remember as we look back at all the photos and reminisce about the nights and events of the past,” he wrote alongside a mirror selfie of the couple.

“Many memories have been made in two years of marriage already and there are many more to come. (It's also a way for me to look exponentially better because you bring the 🔥 every time) Happy anniversary @kealiamae I love you,” he added.

Kealia also commemorated this milestone on Instagram and wrote: “2*15*20 The best day and the best two years of marriage with you. Happy anniversary, I love you so much @jjwatt”

The defensive end is entering his second season with the Cardinals despite missing a long time in his first season with a shoulder injury. He signed with the Cardinals in March 2021 after being released after 10 seasons with the Houston Texans.

Last March, Watt spoke to PEOPLE and revealed who the best athlete in his family is.

“If I say anything different than my wife, I get my ass kicked,” Watt joked about his wife, a soccer star.

Watt said he and Ohai, a striker for the NWSL's Chicago Red Stars, push each other to train harder and said it's “one of the best things about our relationship.”

He also noted that Ohai outperformed him in “speed and agility” drills, but added, “I challenge her in strength drills.”
