“A Complete Unknown” is scheduled to hit theaters on Christmas Day.

In the film, Timothee Chalamet plays music icon Bob Dylan. The film focuses on the singer-songwriter's controversial switch to electric instruments at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965. The film is scheduled to be released on December 25th.

It has been confirmed that the 28-year-old actor, who joins the cast of Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Boyd Holbrook and Monica Barbaro, will sing in the film himself, having previously lent his voice to the 2023 musical flick “Wonka.”

Director James Mangold confirmed that he worked with Dylan on the project and that the “Like A Rolling Stone” singer made some personal contributions to the script.

During an appearance on the podcast “Happy Sad Confused,” the filmmaker said: “I spent several wonderfully charming days in his company, in private, talking to him.”

“I have a script that he personally commented on and that I really appreciate. He loves movies. When I first sat down with Bob, one of the first things he said to me was, 'I love Cop Land.'”

Although the film deals with Dylan's early years, the “Logan” director stressed that “A Complete Unknown” is not strictly speaking a biopic about the music icon.

He explained: “By the way, it’s not really a Bob Dylan biopic.

“The reason Bob was so supportive of us in making this happen is because, as in all cases, the best films based on true events are never about the cradle to the grave, but about a very specific moment.

“In this case, it might sound like Altman, but it's kind of an ensemble piece about this moment in time, the early '60s in New York, and this 17-year-old kid with $16 in his pocket is hitchhiking to New York to meet Woody Guthrie, who's in the hospital dying of a nervous illness.”
