90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way's Statler explains why she wasn't thrilled to see Dempsey or take part in filming the latest episode

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way brought Statler and Dempsey Wilkinson together face to face at last, but it was far from a loving reunion. The pair eventually argued over Statler's lack of enthusiasm to be there, and the episode suggested it was related to the financial issues with the van, which we became confused about as the story progressed. After the episode, Statler spoke out on social media about her bad attitude and gave her perspective.

Statler was often criticized by 90 Day Fiancé Viewers who watched the episode either on TLC or with their Max subscription. Weeks after making comments on social media suggesting that she and Dempsey are no longer together, Statler explained in Instagram Stories (via Reddit) why she was in such a bad mood when she saw Dempsey at the airport:

You can't just take a break from filming – even if you need sleep. It was a very long day and filming had only just started, as it was morning in England when I arrived. I knew I was expected to do a full day of filming (which I did) and I was past the point where I couldn't take it anymore. Dempsey was well rested and hadn't worked, having quit her job two weeks earlier. I was still working full time in the meantime.

Flying from the US to the UK is not a short journey and there is a significant time difference. I can completely understand why someone would not be willing to spend a whole day filming. 90 Day Fiancé Content shortly after landing. At the same time, I can understand why Dempsey was hurt by Statler's attitude, considering how enthusiastic she seemed about life in the van in the behind-the-scenes pictures.

It can be a struggle being part of the TLC franchise, and there are many married 90 Day couples who split up after a few seasons. When she explained why she was so upset during the final episode of The other wayStatler added that she never actually wanted to appear on the show from the beginning:

I didn't want to be part of the show and Dempsey respected that – at first. On one visit she persuaded me to do the show again because she said it would make her happy. I said no until the last second. Was totally gutted because that meant I had to wait for filming to go back to England and then everything would be filmed, which was hard for me in the first season.

Statler and Dempsey's first season on 90 Day Fiancé was pretty brutal and included one of the worst Valentine's Day dates I've ever seen. The couple survived season 6 of Before the 90 daysbut a large part of her private life was disclosed and open to criticism by viewers.

Being a reality star can take a toll, especially when you 90 Day Fiancé can make you a trending topic on the internet. Statler apparently saw some of the comments about her playing the victim and blaming Dempsey:

To the people who call me a “perpetual victim,” I would say that if I wanted to be a victim, I would share the real traumas of my life with them. But I don't talk about a lot of things I've been through. There are really hard things I don't talk about. Instead, I try to make people aware of the adoption and neurosis aspects. I'm not a victim, so fuck off with that bullshit.

Who knows if the fan base will wane, especially after receiving multiple reactions from Statler throughout the season so far. Dempsey, on the other hand, has largely avoided mentioning 90 Day Fiancé on her Instagram page and talks about traveling around the world instead.

Her silence on the season could be another indication that she's not interested in revisiting this story, although it's interesting given the claim that she pushed to appear on the show. Perhaps as the season progresses, as Statler makes further comments, Dempsey will go public with a response.

We will wait and see 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Meanwhile, continues on TLC Mondays at 8pm ET. Here's hoping there's still some happiness in Statler and Dempsey's storyline, but given the rumors about how it's going to end, I'm not optimistic.
