If you're a fan of the Bridget Jones films, we have AMAZING news for you! Not only has the fourth installment been confirmed, with Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson reprising their famous roles, but production has now wrapped!

The fourth film, titled “Bridget Jones: There’s Something About the Boy,” is based on Helen Fielding’s latest novel of the same name and is scheduled to be released in the United States on Valentine’s Day 2025.

Is production of Bridget Jones 4 finished?

Yes, production on the upcoming film was completed in August 2024. Production company Working Title posted on X: “That's it. See you on Valentine's Day.” This confirmed the expected release date of Valentine's Day 2025.

What will it be about?

The fourth film is believed to be set four years after the third installment and will see Bridget Jones in her fifties trying to balance her modern life with her life as a widowed mother of two children.

In the third film, which was released in 2016, the producers decided to change the story from the books. Bridget and Marc Darcy now get married after the birth of their son William.

However, due to the absence of Colin Firth in the upcoming fourth film and initial rumors about the script, it looks like they might return to the original plot and Colin's character would die in the fourth film.

Although it has been confirmed that author Helen Fielding has written the screenplay for the fourth film, it is unknown how closely the film's plot will stick to the book.

Who is in the cast?

American actress Renée Zellweger will once again don her best British accent for her role as Bridget, and Hugh Grant has been confirmed to return for the fourth film to play womanizer Daniel Cleaver.

Emma Thompson also reprised her role as Dr. Rawlings, who of course played a major role in helping Bridget give birth to her first child in the third film.

Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones also return in the roles of Bridget's parents Colin and Pamela.

Additionally, it was announced that the following actors will reprise their roles as Bridget's friends: Sarah Solemani (Miranda), Sally Phillips (Sharon “Shazzer”), Shirley Henderson (Jude) and James Callis (Tom).

“One Day” actor Leo Woodall makes his “Bridget Jones” debut, playing the role of Roxster, a sexy man in his thirties and Bridget’s lover.

Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor from “1\2 Years A Slave” has also joined the cast.

Much to the disappointment of fans, it looks like Colin Firth will not appear in the fourth film.

What is the name of the fourth film?

The fourth film will be called Bridget Jones: There's Something About the Boy.

When is the fourth movie coming out?

The film is scheduled for release in the US on Valentine's Day 2025; a UK release date has not yet been confirmed.
