The Nets will not play on Christmas in the 2024-25 season

In just over a month, the Brooklyn Nets will begin training camp in preparation for the 2024-25 season as the team looks to have a productive rebuild. Brooklyn fans have reason to rejoice, as the team has already released its preseason schedule and now the rest of its regular season schedule will be released as well.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported Thursday that the NBA has compiled the list of games that will take place on Christmas Day next season. While it's no surprise given the franchise's recent trajectory, the Nets will not be playing on Christmas Day this time around.

As almost every NBA fan knows, the league tries to schedule games on Christmas that are designed to be exciting either because of the expected success of the teams or the players competing in the contests. For example, one could argue that nine of the ten teams scheduled to play on Christmas are either in the playoffs or close to them at the end of the season.

The only team that doesn't fit that description (San Antonio Spurs) has center Victor Wembanyama, who is already one of the NBA's most popular players and is already considered a player of a generation, even though the Spurs are in the process of rebuilding their team. The last time the Nets played on Christmas was during the 2021-22 season, when they beat the Los Angeles Lakers 122-115, with James Harden recording a triple-double with 36 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the win.
