NBA Christmas Day schedule revealed

The Toronto Raptors will once again not be on the NBA’s Christmas schedule.

The Raptors have only played on Christmas twice in their 29 years of existence.

According to reports, the league has five games scheduled for Christmas this year, and there will be some exciting encounters.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the San Antonio Spurs will face the New York Knicks in Game 1. The Dallas Mavericks will host the Minnesota Timberwolves in a rematch of the Western Conference finals. The reigning NBA champion Boston Celtics will face the Philadelphia 76ers. LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will face Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. And finally, the Phoenix Suns will face the Denver Nuggets:

The most important takeaway from this year's Christmas schedule is that the San Antonio Spurs will be there, despite winning just 22 games last season. That's because of the star power of Victor Wembanyama.

As for the Raptors, they last played a game against the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day 2019, following the team's championship season.

Before that, Toronto played its only other game on Christmas Day in 2001, when Vince Carter and the Raptors lost to the New York Knicks 102-94.

The Raptors are not expected to play many, if any, prime-time games this season. The Raptors are in the midst of a rebuild and are not expected to make the playoffs anytime soon.

The NBA's full 2024-25 schedule is expected to be announced later this month.
