Downtown Kansas City was packed with fans eager to show their love on Valentine's Day following the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory, but as photos show, the celebrations quickly turned into chaos.

The city was ready to celebrate – a sunny day with temperatures in the 15s, many schools closed and the team as defending Super Bowl champions for the second year in a row. After participating in a 2-mile parade, the Chiefs players, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, arrived at the stage. Taylor Swift, who has been dating Kelce since the fall and was at the Super Bowl on Sunday, was not present at the parade.

The Chiefs, who won 25-22 in overtime, claimed their third Super Bowl victory in five years and are now seeking a third consecutive victory – something that Chiefs players chanted repeatedly from the parade stage. But minutes after the team left the stage, shots rang out.

Photos from the Kansas City Chiefs' victory parade show that what was supposed to be a normal day of celebration quickly turned into a chaotic event, with fans fleeing in a hurry and several people being carried out on stretchers. In a press conference, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said 10 to 15 people were injured, but the total number of casualties has not yet been confirmed. Police also said two people were arrested.

The fatal shooting occurred as the parade was winding down and fans were leaving the area. All Chiefs players, coaches and staff were reported safe and sound.
