The zodiac signs that are best (and worst) suited for long-term relationships

By Cosmopolitan

Look, we're obsessed with zodiac signs and we're not ashamed to admit it. Your zodiac sign can tell you everything from how likely you are to get a lot of matches on dating apps to how hard you'll have getting over an ex. It can even be used—alongside tarot cards—to predict your love life for summer 2020. What's not to love?! And thanks to astrology, we also know which zodiac signs are best (and worst) for long-term relationships. That's super important information since cuffing season is now in full swing.

Buzz Bingo conducted a study into the longevity of celebrity relationships based on their zodiac signs. And the results are pretty darn interesting and may actually reveal which zodiac sign you should look for if you're looking for a relationship for cuffing season. “Cuffing season occurs in the fall and winter months when people have a strong desire for a monogamous relationship,” says Dr. Lori Brotto. Cuffing season generally starts in October and lasts until March (which is crucial, including Valentine's Day) as people enter (or want to enter) relationships for the dreary winter months before breaking up and becoming single again in time for summer.

So if you are looking for a (more or less) long-term relationship with someone, you should look out for the following signs…

Capricorns had the longest relationships with an average of five years and six months, followed by Aquarius with four years and 24 days.

Aries (three years, ten months), Libra (three years, nine months), Gemini (three years, nine months), Taurus (three years, six months), Pisces (three years, six months), Sagittarius (three years, five months), Cancer (three years, four months), Virgo (three years, two months), and Leo (three years, five days) all had an average of three years or more.

And the zodiac sign with the shortest relationship was Scorpio at two years and seven months.

According to the study, Scorpio and Capricorn (like Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry) is the zodiac sign combination with the best prospects for a long-term relationship. Closely followed by Aquarius and Pisces, like Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. Aquarius and Aquarius also seem to be a good long-term relationship, as Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi are one of the most famous Aquarius couples with long-term relationships.

Aquarius and Capricorn have, on average, the shortest relationship with each other – as Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran proved with their short 31-day romance.

So there we have it: If you're looking for a long-term relationship, find yourself a beautiful Capricorn. And if you're more interested in a short but sweet romance, find yourself a Scorpio.
