Slidell man and teen charged with child pornography, Attorney General's Office says

SLIDELL, Louisiana (WVUE) – A Slidell man and teenager were arrested Tuesday (Aug. 13) on child pornography charges, the Louisiana Attorney General's Office said.

Attorney General Liz Murrill's office said 34-year-old Ryan Wesley Cadard was charged with 55 counts of distribution of pornography featuring juveniles under the age of 13 and six counts of possession of pornography featuring juveniles under the age of 13.

The office also announced that 17-year-old Jeffrey Puckett was charged with two counts of possession of pornographic images depicting minors under the age of 13.

A spokesman for the Attorney General's office said the two cases were unrelated.

Cadard was taken to the St. Tammany Parish Detention Center to await his bail hearing.

Puckett was initially taken to the Slidell City Jail and later transferred to the St. Tammany Parish Detention Center, the office said. There was no immediate word on whether bail had been set or posted, but Puckett did not appear on the jail's inmate list as of 5:15 p.m.

Murrill's office said both suspects were arrested after agents with the attorney general's Cyber Crime Unit received tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about their online activities. The investigation, which involves Murrill's agents, Homeland Security Investigations and Slidell police, is ongoing, the attorney general's office said.
