Man arrested on 12 charges in West Ashley crime spree

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Charleston Police have arrested a man in connection with a series of car break-ins and motor vehicle thefts in West Ashley.

Jalen Stuckey, 18, is charged with resisting arrest, possession of a stolen handgun, seven counts of burglary of a motor vehicle and three counts of grand larceny.

According to Sergeant Chris Stinson, officers responded to a report of multiple burglaries in the Bolton's Landing neighborhood around 3 a.m. Friday.

Officials said Stuckey attempted to flee but was caught later that morning as he emerged from the woods on Bees Ferry Road.

The officers found a pistol on him that had been stolen during one of the car break-ins.

After further investigation, Stuckey was found responsible for several property crimes that occurred at the Satori Way Apartments in Bolton's Landing just hours before the burglaries, Stinson said.

He is currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center on $127,500 bail.
