Madison County Sheriff Kevin Turner comments on growth and crime

MADISON COUNTY, Alabama (WAFF) – After five and a half years as Madison County Sheriff, Kevin Turner recently took the time to discuss the most pressing issues facing the rapidly growing county.

During his tenure, Turner has navigated the complexities of a changing landscape, and now as the county continues to grow, he is focused on ensuring the Sheriff's Office is prepared for future demands.

One of the key challenges Turner highlighted is the need to hire additional deputies over the next two years.

“Our county is growing incredibly quickly, and with that growth comes increasing demands on our law enforcement resources,” Turner said. “We need to make sure we have the right workforce to keep our community safe.”

Turner emphasized that hiring new deputies is not just about increasing headcount, but also about maintaining the high standard of service for which the Madison County Sheriff's Office is known.

“It is critical that we hire the right people – individuals who are not only qualified but also committed to their community,” he explained.

The sheriff also reflected on his long career in law enforcement, which began in 1992 when he joined the force as a patrol officer.

“It is an incredible honor to lead this department as sheriff and I am committed to continuing the progress we have made,” he said.

Turner's journey from patrol officer to sheriff underscores his deep connection to the community and commitment to public service. Looking ahead, he remains focused on meeting the needs of a growing county while ensuring the Madison County Sheriff's Office continues to uphold its reputation for excellence.

At the end of his remarks, Turner expressed his deep pride in the progress the department has made under his leadership and his strong commitment to its future development.

“We have made great progress, but there is still much work to be done,” Turner said. “I am ready for the challenges ahead and will do everything in my power to keep Madison County safe.”
