Conservative: Former “Trump cheerleader” praises Harris, warns of “trouble” for ex-president

Many Republicans, from former advisers to Donald Trump to former and current lawmakers, have turned against the former president since he attempted to overturn the 2020 election.

NPR reported earlier this week that former Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-VA) had called the MAGA leader an “incorrigible liar,” while Republican Mayor of Mesa, AZ John Giles stated during Vice President Kamala Harris' rally in Arizona last week that he refuses to endorse his party in this election cycle – which he “no longer” recognizes.

Aside from Republican lawmakers, even controversial right-wing commentators like podcaster Joe Rogan – according to a report by Wednesday Mediate – have praised Harris since the vice president accepted the Democratic presidential nomination for 2024 last week.

Referring to Harris' rally in Atlanta, Rogan said, “I have to say that she gave a speech right after it was decided that she was going to be the nominee. In that speech, she said, 'If you want to say something, why don't you say it to my face?' The timing was great.”

Mediate reports:

Rogan recently drew Trump’s ire after praising the independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.a previous podcast guest, arguing that he was the “only one” in the race who made sense. While Rogan did not give an official endorsement, some reported his words as if they were. Trump fantasized on Truth Social about Rogan being booed at his next UFC event – Rogan has long been a fight commentator.

The news portal also notes that while Rogan called Harris' speech to the audience in Atlanta a “stunning speech,” the former Trump fan “also put forward the theory that Harris had been heavily coached.”

Nevertheless, conservative columnist Peter Wehner noted: “The fact that former Trump supporters like [former Fox News host] Megyn Kelly and Rogan turning against Trump underscores the trouble he's in. Buckle up, MAGA world; it's about to get worse.”
