2024 football schedule for Richards High School released

OAK LAWN, IL – High school football players will take to the field as practice officially begins on August 12.

The nine-game regular season, released Thursday, runs through the end of October and culminates with the Illinois High School Association Football State Finals (Nov. 29-30) at Hancock Stadium on the campus of Illinois State University in Normal. The IHSA is celebrating its 50th state championship games.

The Illinois High School Association, in conjunction with Max Preps, recently announced the varsity team schedules. In Oak Lawn, fans will be keeping an eye on local teams from Richards and Oak Lawn Community High Schools, as well as area Catholic high schools.

This fall, Richards High School will be joined in the South Suburban Conference Red by OLCHS, Evergreen Park, Shepard (Palos Heights), Reavis (Burbank), Argo (Summit) and Eisenhower (Blue Island).

Tony Sheehan returns as head coach of the Richards football team that finished the 2023 season with an overall record of 8-3 in the South Suburban Red Conference.

Locally, Richards' regular season begins on August 30th when the Bulldogs face the Crete-Monee Warriors, kicking off at 6:30 p.m.
