LINCOLN, Nebraska (KLKN) — A Lincoln man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for selling guns and drugs to a police informant.

Jimmy Nguyen, 30, was sentenced Tuesday for distribution of 5 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in connection with drug trafficking.

The case began in December 2021 when Nguyen made a drug deal with a confidential informant.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, he agreed to sell the informant an ounce of meth and two handguns.

The two met in the parking lot of a grocery store in Lincoln.

After the purchase, the informant handed over the weapons and meth to the authorities.

The bag of meth contained at least 25 grams of pure meth, authorities said.

The serial number of one of the handguns had been obscured.

After his prison sentence, Nguyen will be on probation for five years. There is no parole in the federal system.
