Disney+ subscription used to block lawsuit over tragic death

Disney's handling of legal issues has sparked considerable controversy, particularly as the company attempts to evade responsibility for a lawsuit related to the death of Kanokporn Tangsuan, who tragically passed away after a dinner at Disney Springs. Disney's main argument is surprising: The company claims that widower Jeffrey Piccolo cannot sue because he signed up for Disney+ five years ago, even as part of a free trial.

This case raises serious questions about corporate practices and consumer rights – or lack thereof. When Tangsuan, 42, dined at the Raglan Road Irish Pub in October 2023, she alerted staff to her severe dairy and nut allergies, but the restaurant allegedly failed to prepare her food properly, leading to her anaphylactic shock.
