Over 3.5 goals

Portsmouth will be looking to pull off another upset against a promotion contender when they host Luton in the Championship at Fratton Park on Saturday.

John Mousinho's side were expected to come out on top in their league opener against Leeds, but they were held to a 3-3 draw in the match at Elland Road.

Luton suffered a devastating 4-1 home defeat to Burnley on Monday, but their recently promoted hosts are likely to give them more joy.

About the team

Mousinho will continue to be without Regan Poole, Jacob Farrell, Josh Murphy and Colby Bishop due to injury problems, while Kusini Yengi will have to pass a fitness test after a recent groin injury.

Luton head coach Rob Edwards continues to be without several defenders due to injury: Teden Mengi, Amari'i Bell, Mads Andersen, Baiki Hashioka and Reece Burke are out.

The statistics

Pompey have lost their last two competitive games at Fratton Park, but have scored two or more goals in eight of their last ten competitive games at home.

Luton have not won any of their last four games, including their last three pre-season friendlies, and have conceded 12 goals under Edwards.

Luton conceded the most away goals in the last Premier League season, letting in a whopping 48 away from home.

forecast

Portsmouth could have been 3-0 down against Leeds in the first 10 minutes but they fought back and caused the Whites problems. Mousinho's team were patient and took the chances that came their way but the return to home soil should bring out the best in them.

Luton's 4-1 defeat to Burnley will give them confidence, but the Hatters have a better squad than their hosts. Edwards' men probably needed a wake-up call to prepare for another season in the Championship and they should respond positively in their second game of the season.

Luton were not in action in the EFL Cup during the week, so the Hatters' side should be fresh and motivated and there is every chance that they too will be in the running on the scoresheet.

Pompey's ability to entertain well at home makes this game difficult to predict, but there should at least be goals on the south coast.
