RG Kar Hospital Vandalism: Governor CV Ananda Bose visits RG Kar Hospital campus following midnight vandalism incident

Kolkata: Governor CV Ananda Bose visits RG Kar Hospital campus following the rampage and devastation by miscreants on August 15 midnight.

The Governor yesterday went to the emergency ward building which was vandalised. He visited the emergency ward which is not operational and other departments. Bose also went to the nursing wards and spoke to the nurses. The Governor also went to the pulmonary ward and the seminar hall where the PG students were raped and murdered. The seminar hall remains sealed and the police have claimed it is secure.

Bose spoke to the protesting students about last night's incident. Equipment was also damaged in the intensive care unit and the HDU. The equipment in the emergency room building was ripped out, lamps and fans were smashed, medical equipment and medicines were scattered on the floor among broken glass, and beds and infusions were knocked over.

“They tried to take away our power. Please support us so that we can get justice for 'Abhaya', who was our colleague in the hospital and above all a human being,” the students appealed to the governor.
“The police hid in the department’s toilets,” the students told the governor.

The governor assured that justice would be done to the students. “They will get justice. I came here. We will win. We will not allow these cruel things. Our eyes and ears are open. We will work together for your service so that women can live happily,” the governor said.

“We will take positive action. You will get justice and we will get it done,” the governor assured. “But let me take a look at the hospital first.”

The miscreants broke through barricades, damaged gates and overturned a Kolkata Police vehicle and post and several vehicles. Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyel blamed a “malicious media campaign” for the incident.

The governor visited the emergency room, nursing homes and other departments. He will also speak to the police.
