Report: Bexar County Jail inmate charged with murder of another inmate

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A Bexar County Jail inmate is accused of murdering another inmate and attacking several others.

KSAT-12 reports that the investigation began Tuesday afternoon when 62-year-old Jose Berrera was found dead in his cell.

Shortly after Texas Rangers began investigating Berrea's death, they discovered that other inmates had been attacked. One of them claimed that 28-year-old Anthony McGruder had choked him with a towel and saw McGruder hit Berrea with a sandal and choke him with a sheet.

When investigators began questioning McGruder, he reportedly admitted to killing another inmate.

McGruder was charged with Berrera's murder.
