Black box of a crashed plane in Brazil reveals screams and pilot problems

The Cockpit voice recordings from the Voepass ATR 72-500 that crashed in Sao Paulo, Brazil, last week capture conversations between the pilots about “powering up” the plane minutes before the crash. Screams from inside the plane can still be heard on the recordings.

The investigation was carried out in about two hours by a Brazilian Air Force laboratory. According to Jornal Nacional, cited by G1, the analysis of the audio recordings from the cabin could not determine the cause of the plane crash.

An audio recording from the flight recorder shows that the co-pilot asked what was going on when he noticed the plane was losing lift. He said that a “delegation” was necessary to stabilize the plane and prevent an accident.

The shot ends with a scream and the plane hitting the ground.

It is recalled that the twin-engine ATR 72-500, flying between Cascaval and São Paulo, crashed on Friday at 13:25 (17:25 in Lisbon), killing all 62 passengers on board.

Among the dead was a Portuguese woman. Gracinda Marina Castelo da Silva is 47 years old and was on the ship with her husband Nelvio José Hupner, a Brazilian citizen with whom she has been married for 25 years.
