Cleveland man sentenced for murder of child's mother

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A Cleveland man found guilty of killing the mother of his child is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas.

On August 8, Judge David Matia found 36-year-old Joshua Lynch guilty of two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a weapon while disabled, endangering children and gross desecration of a corpse.

Lynch's trial began on August 5.

Jovon Ferguson-Lynch, 34, was shot and killed in her home near Huntmere Avenue and E. 161st Street on February 8, 2023.

After the shooting, Lynch placed her body in a car and fled the scene with her then seven-year-old daughter in the car.

Ferguson-Lynch's body was found in the car in the 16200 block of Huntmere Avenue in the North Shore Collinwood neighborhood around 9:30 a.m. that same day.

The daughter was found safe and sound in Elyria later that day.

Lynch turned himself in to the police a few days later.
