Motorcyclist identified after fatal crash on Galley Road and Murray Boulevard

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — The motorcyclist killed in a fatal crash on Galley Road and Murray Boulevard earlier this month has been identified.

According to Colorado Springs police, 43-year-old Kevin Bland was riding a motorcycle and was involved in a single-vehicle accident on August 3.

An investigation revealed that while driving, Bland struck construction barrels marking a lane closure and a traffic trailer indicating a merge before he was thrown from his motorcycle.

A community member witnessed the accident and attempted life-saving measures until emergency personnel arrived and took Bland to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Bland died a week later on August 10 from injuries sustained in the accident. His identity was determined by the El Paso County Coroner's Office on August 12.

According to current knowledge, alcohol was a cause of the accident.

This is the 34th.th Traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs this year. Last year at this time there were 27 traffic fatalities. In the last 365 days there have been 57 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs.
