Galloway man pleads guilty in Atlantic City gun and drug case

A Galloway Township man who was rearrested after a gun was found in a seized vehicle pleaded guilty this week.

Halim Fisher, 25, was first arrested on Dec. 21, 2022, after he and a 16-year-old boy left a store in the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue after selling crack cocaine to a man inside, police said at the time.

At the time, Fisher had a drug scale and the keys to a Ford Fusion with him.

Police obtained a search warrant for the vehicle, which led to a loaded handgun in the glove compartment. Fisher's DNA was on the gun, according to the Atlantic County District Attorney's Office.

One day after his arrest in July 2023, Fisher appeared in court via video. By the time the gun was found, Fisher had already been released. He was arrested on July 27, 2023.

He also pleaded guilty to two other charges.

He admitted to evading police during an attempted vehicle stop in Mays Landing on June 2, 2023, and to possessing cocaine with intent to distribute on November 23, 2022, in the same Atlantic City neighborhood where the second arrest occurred.

For this reason, Fisher will be subject to a drug-related restraining order in this area upon his release from prison.

He faces a prison sentence of six years, including three and a half years suspended sentence.

Judge Donna Taylor denied Fisher's request for release pending sentencing in October. He remains in the Atlantic County Correctional Facility.
