Alcohol probably caused an accident in which one man died and two women had to be hospitalized

CLINTON TWP., Michigan (WTVG) – One person died and two others were hospitalized in a traffic accident in Lenawee County.

It occurred Thursday evening around 9:30 p.m. near Tecumseh Clinton Highway at Allen Road in Clinton Township.

According to Michigan State Police, a 72-year-old Clinton man died in the crash. His passenger, a 75-year-old Clinton woman, was taken to a hospital by air ambulance and is in critical condition. A third person, a 38-year-old Tecumseh woman, was also hospitalized with minor injuries. Her identity has not been released.

According to the MSP Monroe Post, the 38-year-old driver of a blue Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound when the vehicle collided with a silver GMC Terrain driven by the 72-year-old man, who was traveling northbound. Police believe alcohol played a role in the crash.

The road was closed for several hours during the investigation. Numerous emergency services were deployed. The police said the investigation was not yet complete.
