1 dead and 2 injured in head-on collision in southeast Michigan: Police

LENAWEE COUNTY, MI — One man was killed and two other people were injured in a head-on collision in Lenawee County Wednesday evening, according to Michigan State Police.

According to police, a blue Jeep Wrangler was traveling south on the Tecumseh-Clinton Highway near Allen Road in Clinton Township (Lenawee County) when it collided with an oncoming silver GMC Terrian at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.

The 72-year-old Clinton Township man who was driving the GMC was killed in the crash, police said.

His passenger, a 75-year-old woman from Clinton Township, was flown to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor in critical condition, police said.

The 38-year-old Tecumseh woman who was driving the Jeep was also taken to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor with minor injuries, police said.

The woman is cooperating with investigators.

The police believe that alcohol played a role in the accident.

The road near Allen Road was closed for several hours while police investigated the accident.
