Chicago police confirmed that several suspects forced their way into the New Quick Market in the 8300 block of Kedzie Avenue around 3 a.m. Thursday.

“When we arrived, everything was destroyed,” said owner Ayesha Khan.

Shop owners Ayesha and Sunny Khan said the thieves stole the ATM, cash from the till and liquor bottles.

The owners said they had just rebuilt the front entrance after it was demolished three months ago.

Surveillance video captured the moment several suspects drove their vehicle past the security gate in front of the New Quick Market on Thursday to break in and steal money from the ATM inside.

Shop owner Ayesha & Sunny Khan said the thieves stole the ATM, cash from the till and liquor bottles.

“They basically tied my gates and doors to their cars and tore them down, completely ruining the facility,” Ayesha Khan said. “We can't keep coming back here and fixing it, only to watch it being destroyed before our eyes and there's nothing we can do about it.”

The couple said they have owned the business for nearly two decades and are now at a turning point.

“Our heart and soul are in this place. To see it destroyed like this is definitely frustrating. It's hard to do business in Chicago and this makes us question how much longer we want to continue this,” said Ayesha Khan.

The owners became increasingly anxious and complained to the police and the city council, but felt that their concerns went unheard.

According to Chicago police, the suspects drove away after the break-in in two black SUVs, possibly a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Lexus.

No one is in custody as Area One detectives investigate this morning.
