Titans' Kyle Philips suffers another injury setback during joint training

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kyle Philips was already at a significant disadvantage when it came to making the regular season roster, and his recent injury won't help matters.

Head coach Brian Callahan told the media that the third-year receiver left Thursday's joint practice against the Seattle Seahawks due to a hamstring injury.

Without knowing the severity of the injury, however, one has to wonder if this could mean the end of Philip's tenure in Nashville.

The 25-year-old only played in 13 games in his first two seasons. During this time, Philips caught 23 balls for 259 yards and did not score a touchdown.

Last year, he was also relieved of his punt return duties after dropping fumbles twice in two games.

In addition, the Titans strengthened their wide receiver room with free agents Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd, causing Philips to drop down the roster.

The former UCLA star entered this season with another opportunity to prove himself as both a receiver and a punt returner.

In the Titans' first preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers last week, he caught three balls for 18 yards. Philips was also a consistent playmaker in training camp.

Meanwhile, Callahan pointed out that the regular players will not be playing in this Saturday's warm-up game against Seattle, which would have given Philips a chance to shine.

Now others have the chance to prove themselves.
