AAP demands exemplary punishment in tragic case of Calcutta doctor

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday condemned the alleged murder of a doctor-student in Kolkata, describing it as extremely painful and distressing. It demanded exemplary punishment for the perpetrator.

The tragic incident took place last week when the body of the trainee doctor was found at RG Kar Medical College. This incident, which allegedly took place while she was on duty, has sparked protests by doctors and medical students across India.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said, “The incident in Kolkata is extremely painful and unfortunate. Just thinking about the pain this young doctor had to go through is soul-crushing. The CBI is investigating this case and the accused has been caught.” He added that such a crime requires the strictest punishment to set an example and criticised the politicisation of such incidents. Singh also questioned the safety of women across the country and emphasised the ineffectiveness of political promises without actionable safety measures.
