‘General Hospital’ star Kirsten Storms shares creepy photo after explosive coffee incident

The “General Hospital” star caused concern among her fans after sharing a photo of what some assumed was the black eye resulting from a freak coffee accident.

General Hospital Star Kirsten Storms is feeling lucky after a freak accident at home. The actress, known for her role as Maxie Jones on the long-running ABC soap opera, recently told her fans a hilarious “but not funny” story about the time she suffered a “black eye” when a coffee can exploded in her face.

In an Instagram post on Friday, August 9, Storms, 40, shared a black-and-white photo capturing the aftermath of the freak coffee accident, showing her face covered in what looks like gunpowder. In the caption, the actress revealed the story behind the snap, writing, “One of those 'funny stories but not funny when I need coffee' moments…”

“I've opened several cans of @illy_coffee and never once have grounds flown out of this pretty metal container. ::sigh:: There's a first time for everything,” Storms wrote. “I can safely say that I prefer my coffee brewed with hot water (or over ice)… it doesn't taste as good straight out of the can.”

However, the actress admitted that she was at least partly responsible for the mishap and concluded her post by saying: “In her defense, there is a warning on the lid. It is written in several languages.”

In the comments, many fans expressed their relief that Storm's face in the picture was the result of coffee and not an unsightly bruise as many had initially assumed. One person wrote: “Okay so that's coffee right??? Not a bruise???” Another person commented: “Glad it wasn't a medical emergency.” Meanwhile, a colleague wrote General Hospital Star and All my children Alumna Finola Hughes joked, “I thought it was a GH storyline!! I thought, 'Who would dare give Maxie a black eye?'”
