If you were stuck in traffic on North John Wayne Parkway or your Amazon package was delayed today, here's why.

Maricopa and Ak-Chin police responded to an accident in the southbound lanes of John Wayne Parkway at West Juan Street at 1:04 p.m.

Reporters on the scene saw that an Amazon electric truck had crashed, sustaining damage to its front bumper. A Lexus sedan's airbags deployed, causing damage to the driver and passenger sides.

Sergeant Chance Jordan of the Maricopa Police Department pulled a broken street sign from the road.

At least one woman was loaded into an ambulance and taken to a hospital, but at the time of publication it was not known how severe her injuries were or whether anyone else was hurt.

Southbound traffic on John Wayne Parkway was closed and diverted via Juan Street.
