Adelanto woman killed in car crash in Victorville

An Adelanto woman died and a man was injured in a collision between a car and an SUV in Victorville Thursday morning, officials said.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, the accident occurred around 6:45 a.m. at the corner of Ridgecrest Road and Green Tree Boulevard.

When officers arrived on scene, they found that a Toyota Camry and a GMV Yukon had collided, the sheriff's department said in a written statement.

Paramedics confirmed the death of the Toyota driver at the scene of the accident.

She was identified by sheriff's officials as Gricelda Ponce Sandoval, 54, of Adelanto.

The driver of the GMC, a 52-year-old Victorville man, was taken to a hospital for treatment, authorities said. An update on his condition was not available.

No further details about the circumstances of the collision were given on Thursday afternoon.

The cause was investigated by officials from a serious accident investigation team.

The fatal accident was the second reported in Victorville on Thursday and the fourth fatality.

Two men and a woman were killed shortly after 12:20 a.m. when a motorcycle and a bicycle collided at the intersection of La Paz Drive and Valley Center Drive, sheriff's department spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said.
